Ralph Hubert Barger popularly known as Sonny Barger, was an American outlaw biker, author and actor who was a founding member of the Oakland, California chapter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club in 1957. He authored five books and appeared on television and in film.

He was born in Modesto, California in the United States on the 8th of October 1938 and will be 84 years in October 2022. His mother was called Katheryn Carmella Barger and his father is Ralph Hubert Barger. His mother abandoned the family when Barger was four months old, leaving him and his older sister Shirley to be raised by their grandmother and alcoholic father.
Growing up in Oakland, he was suspended from school several times for assaulting teachers, and he often fought with other boys. He dropped out of school in the tenth grade.
Although many of his school friends became drug addicts, Barger worked at a grocery store and enlisted in the U.S. Army aged sixteen in 1955, but was given an honourable discharge fourteen months later when it was discovered that he had forged his birth certificate to be able to join. After his return from the Army, Barger drifted between menial jobs and lived with his father in a single residence at a hotel, later moving in with his sister and her children.
He is a married man. He got married to his wife name Zorana Barger. They got married in the year 2005. He was diagnosed with throat cancer during the 1980s as a result of heavy smoking. His vocal cords were removed as a result and after a laryngectomy, he learned to speak using the muscles in his throat. He also mentioned in one of his books that he didn’t like Harley-Davidsons and was just riding them for the club. He preferred a Honda, a BMW, or any Japanese models that focused on building bigger bikes. Currently, he resides in New River.
