Some coaches have not done anything but have been given Black Stars job – Mohammed Polo

Former Ghana and Hearts of Oak player Mohammed Polo has criticized the appointment of certain coaches to the Black Stars coaching job, claiming they lack a proven track record.

The ex-coach of Hearts of Oak took a swipe at current Black Stars coach Otto Addo, suggesting that he is not suitable for the role.

Polo went on to allege that Otto Addo was forced into taking up the position of head coach of the senior national team. He argued that Karim Zito, who led Dreams FC to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, is more deserving of the role than Addo.

“Today, Karim Zito can proudly say that he achieved something remarkable by advancing Dreams FC in the CAF Confederation Cup, which others couldn’t do. His track record speaks for itself and shows that he is capable of coaching at the highest level, such as the Black Stars,” Polo stated.

He further criticized the hiring of coaches with little to no accomplishments, claiming that they are handed the top job without merit. Otto Addo was appointed as the head coach of the Black Stars in March for a second term, having previously guided Ghana to the 2022 World Cup.
