Following what appears to have been gunfire from Israeli tanks, a six-year-old girl who vanished in Gaza City last month has been discovered dead, along with a number of her family members and the two paramedics who attempted to save her.

At the time, Hind Rajab, her uncle, three cousins, and her aunt were driving out of town.

According to audio recordings of conversations between Hind and emergency call operators, the six-year-old girl was the only one still alive in the car, hiding among her family’ remains from Israeli authorities.

The phone line cut in the middle of additional shooting, cutting short her cries for help.

Previously closed off as an active battle zone, the location was reached on Saturday by Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) paramedics.

They discovered the black Kia Hind had been driving, with gunshot holes strewn all over the side and the console and windscreen broken to bits.

Hind was one of the six dead discovered inside the vehicle, all of which had evidence of gunshots and shelling, a paramedic informed reporters.

The wreckage of a further car, its engine spilling onto the ground and totally burned out, was located a few meters distant. The Red Crescent claims that Hind was picked up by this ambulance.

The organization claims that Yusuf al-Zeino and Ahmed al-Madhoun, the crew members, perished when Israeli soldiers bombed the ambulance.

The PRCS charged in a statement that Israel had targeted the ambulance on purpose from the moment it pulled up to the site on January 29.

A campaign to discover Hind’s whereabouts was initiated after the Red Crescent made recordings of her chats with call operators available to the public.

Before Hind’s death was found, her mother told us that she was expecting her daughter “any moment, any second”. She is now insisting that someone answer for their actions.
