Tragedy struck Nashville on Monday as six people, including three children and three adults, were killed in a shooting at a private Christian grade school.

The incident took place at The Covenant School, a Presbyterian school that serves around 200 students from preschool through sixth grade. The female shooter, who appeared to be in her teens, was armed with two assault-type rifles and a pistol. She was also killed by police during the incident.

The Nashville victims were pronounced dead at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital, according to Craig Boerner, a spokesperson for Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which is affiliated with the hospital. The names of the victims have not yet been released, pending notification of their families.

Meanwhile, other students at The Covenant School were evacuated to safety by police officers, holding hands as they left the campus and walking to a nearby church where they were reunited with their parents. The police officers on the scene were heavily armed, wearing rifles, heavy vests, and helmets as they searched the area for any possible threats. Helicopter footage from WTVF showed the officers looking around a wooded area between the campus and a nearby road.
