Mihajlovic experienced significant success during his six seasons with Lazio, as he helped the team win the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1998-99 and the Serie A championship in 1999-2000.
He would ultimately win four Italian Cups and a second Scudetto with Inter in the 2005–06 campaign. Despite playing defense, Mihajlovic was a particularly skilled free-kick taker and during his career, he scored several breathtaking goals from set-pieces.

Mihajlovic, who was still in the dugout at Italian side Bologna just three months ago, has finally succumbed to his disease after a battle spanning more than three years.
On Friday, he passed away in a hospital in Rome. Mihajlovic was referred to as “the guy who was born twice” in a tribute by the Italian sports publication Gazzetta dello Sport, living two lives before and after his leukemia diagnosis yet maintaining the same warrior spirit.
