Singer Mandisa dies at 47

American Idol contestant Mandisa has passed away at the age of 47. The Grammy award-winning Christian artist appeared on Season 5 of the reality singing competition and finished in the top 10.

Mandisa, a California native, was found deceased in her home in Nashville, Tennessee. The cause of death has not been confirmed at this time, as her rep shared the news with fans on Friday, asking for prayers for her family and friends during this difficult time.

Following her time on American Idol, Mandisa went on to release multiple studio albums and was nominated for five Grammy Awards. She won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album in 2014 for her album, Overcomer.

Known for her incredible voice and her openness about her struggles, Mandisa also shared her weight loss journey and battle with depression with her fans. After the loss of her best friend to breast cancer, she faced a dark period of depression and turned to food for comfort.

Seeking treatment and finding her faith, Mandisa was able to overcome her struggles and released her latest album, Out of the Dark, in 2017. Through her music and her story, she aimed to inspire and help others going through similar experiences.

Despite her own battles, Mandisa remained strong in her faith. She believed in the power of heaven and expressed her hope to be reunited with Jesus when the time came. Her openness and vulnerability touched the hearts of many fans and listeners around the world.
