The only child of German manufacturer Herbert Quandt and his first wife Ursel Munstermann, Quandt was born in Berlin in 1937.

Quandt would go on to become a major stakeholder in BMW. Silvia remained with her mother when her parents’ separated in 1940.

She received training as a commercial artist after completing her studies at the Munich Academy for Graphic Arts.

Since the 1960s, she has worked as a freelance painter. In 1968, she won the Burda Award, and in 1969, she won the Swabian Art Award. Currently, the Bayrischen Staatsgemäldesammlung  and the Haus der Kunst Art Museum in Munich both display Quandt’s works.

Fantastic Realism, defined by a propensity for realism, is said to influence Quandt’s paintings and graphic works.

Munich is where Quandt resides and works. She got substantial investments and property before her father passed away in 1982.
