Gospel singer Gifty Adorye, better known by her stage name Empress Gifty, has cautioned women against dating married men (side chicks).
She went ahead citing biblical examples of such relationships and the implications it brings on marriages.
She contended that a comparable connection between Hagar and Ishmael was sanctioned by God in the Bible, and for that reason, she did not consider a woman dating a married man to be sinful.
She continued by saying that although she supports the behavior, women involved should avoid becoming pregnant for married men as they would end their relationships and remain faithful to their spouses.
In an interview with TV3 for the New Day show, Gifty said that women who date married men often do so because they are going through difficult times in their lives.
“I advised side chicks not to become pregnant for their husbands, but you could still be in a relationship with them. The Bible contains the account of Abraham, Hagar, and Ishmael. Side chick has existed since and did not just start. My worry is that you shouldn’t become pregnant for someone else’s spouse since he would end your relationship.
“Those events occur as a result of external factors. Due to hardship and financial challenges, women who date married men do so as a means of support, the speaker stated.
