Stuart Townsend had two siblings, Dylan and Chloe, from his father’s first marriage to Lorna Townsend, who passed tragically in 1994 from a cerebral hemorrhage.
Townsend’s father had Hugo and Ella as a result of his second marriage to Sofia, a Swedish woman.

In the 2005 movie Night Stalker, which was an adaptation of the 1974 ABC TV series Kolchak: The Night Stalker, he shared a screen with Gabrielle Union.
He portrayed Carl Kolchak, a reporter who was looking into the death of his wife. After only six episodes, ABC swiftly cancelled Night Stalker due to low viewership.
He was apparently criticized for being too young in comparison to Darren McGavin from the first season.
Townsend played Will Truman, Karen Walker’s pansexual pastry chef, in a guest-starring role on NBC’s Will & Grace the same year. Will seduces Karen before Rosario, her maid. Moreover, he was uncredited in “on Flux” (2005).
