Popular bargain retailer Shop ‘n Save is unfortunately closing down its location in the Lawrenceville Shopping Center in Pittsburgh after six years of operation. The closure is due to the end of the lease agreement between the retailer and the landlord. The vice president of Ballmoney Real Estate Services, Lori Moran, confirmed the closure, stating that the shopping center will continue to serve the community and add more jobs with the subdivision of the Shop ‘n Save space.

Employees at the branch have been encouraged to seek job opportunities at other nearby locations. The store is set to close its doors for the last time on May 13, 2024. Many loyal customers have expressed their sadness at the news, with some reminiscing about their fond memories of shopping at the store.

Despite the closure of Shop ‘n Save, the space will be occupied by another supermarket chain, Aldi. The exact opening date for Aldi at the location is still unknown, but it presents a “dynamic opportunity” for the neighborhood and the new grocer who will take over the space. Overall, the situation is described as a win-win for everyone involved, including the community.

Shop ‘n Save is a popular chain with 76 outlets across the states, primarily in Pennsylvania. The company was established in 1968 as one of the first discount grocery stores in the US and sells a variety of products ranging from bakery items to pharmaceuticals. With its closure in Lawrenceville, customers will have to look forward to the upcoming Aldi store to meet their grocery needs in the area.
