Shireen Abu Akleh was an American and a Palestinian journalist who was killed by Israeli Defense Forces in a raid in Jenin.
She was a reporter working for Al Jazeera Arab-language Channel. She worked for Al Jazeera for 25 years.
While reporting a raid in Jenin on May 11, 2022, Shireen was shot. The reporter was 51 years, born on January 3, 1971, in Jerusalem.
She had a secondary school education in Beit, Hanina then furthered to Jordan University of Science and Technology.
Shireen was admitted to study architecture at Jordan University but she transferred in the middle of her program to Yarmouk University.
It was at Yarmouk that she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in print journalism. Shireen went back to Palestine after graduating.
