Akie Abe, born Akie Matsuzaki, is a Japanese radio DJ. She was born into a wealthy Japanese family and is considered a socialite.
Her father is the former president of Morinaga & Co., one of Japan’s largest confectionery companies.
She attended the Sacred Heart School in Toky, a Roman Catholic private elementary through high school. She later graduated from Sacred Heart Professional Training College.
Before her marriage, she worked for Dentsu Inc., which is the world’s largest advertising agency.
Matsuzaki and Abe got married in 1987, however, they have no children. However, earlier in their marriage, they have undergone unsuccessful fertility treatments.
Due to her outspoken views, which often contradicted her husband’s, she became popularly known as the “domestic opposition party”.
