News of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s death have made waves in just a few moments after it was officially confirmed.
The former president of the United Arab Emirates had long been credited for the many policies that have made the Gulf States one of the most modern in the region.
He was responsible for writing of Dubai’s debt which has made it grow to become one of the most economically viable places in the world. The Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world was also inspired by his personal name.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan died on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the age of 73. The cause of his death has not been officially confirmed and publicly disclosed as medical examinations are still ongoing.
However many reports suggest that the royal had passed away owing to the devastating effects of a stroke he suffered back in 2014. He was rendered inactive for a long while after the stroke and remained so even after treatment and surgery.
He regained enough strength to make public appearances at various national events. Nevertheless, the day-to-day running and operation of the country was mainly handled by his brother, crowned prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.
