Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale recently opened up about the struggles he faced growing up as a result of his parents’ breakup.

In a candid Facebook live video, Shatta Wale revealed that his childhood was marked by trauma and hardship, primarily due to the separation of his parents.

Recalling his past, Shatta Wale shared how the breakup of his parents led to him not living under the care of both parents, which deeply affected him.

He expressed a longing to experience the love and care of both parents, but instead, he had to navigate the challenges of a broken home.

“The broken home created a lot of issues for me. It affected my sanity, and anytime I tried to voice out my feelings, I was labeled as disrespectful,” Shatta Wale said in the video.

The artiste further disclosed that the pain of his upbringing drove him to flee his home in search of peace, which at times left him homeless.

He recounted sleeping on the streets, in front of stores, and even finding refuge with prostitutes at Nkrumah Circle. The hardships he faced as a result of his parents’ breakup shaped his response to stress and adversity.

“As a result, I started running from stress, running from people who would stress me. That’s where I learned how to cut people off because I don’t want stress. I cut people off without thinking twice. I am the chief cutter,” Shatta Wale shared.

Despite the challenges he faced in his childhood, Shatta Wale’s resilience and determination have propelled him to success in the music industry.

His story serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing childhood trauma and finding healthy ways to cope with difficult experiences.
