Shaquille Olajuwon Mason (born August 28, 1993) is an American football offensive lineman for the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL). Mason attended Georgia Tech from 2011 to 2014[1] before being taken in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
Mason appeared in 11 games as a freshman in 2011. He started 39 of the Yellow Jackets’ 41 games from 2012 to 2014, including every game as a junior and senior. Mason earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2013 and 2014, as well as first-team All-American honors in 2014.

Mason was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round (131st overall) on May 2, 2015. Mason made 14 starts in 14 games with the Patriots as a rookie.

Mason fractured his hand during the preseason in 2016 and did not play in the season opener against the Cardinals, although he did share time at right guard with rookie Ted Karras. Since then, he has started every game for the Patriots at right guard.

As a single mother in Columbia, Alicia McGuire, 43, raised the starting right guard for the New England Patriots. She worked as a debt collector to allow Mason to concentrate on his studies and sports at Columbia Central High School and Georgia Tech.
