Sepp van den Berg is apparently being pursued by a number of Championship teams, but Liverpool is reportedly seeking to keep him on staff.
Under Jurgen Klopp, the 20-year-old has yet to have a breakthrough season and is expected to return to the lesser levels in order to advance his development.
Between January 2021 and May 2022, Van den Berg worked as a loan player for Preston North End, where he made 66 appearances and contributed two goals and one assist.
According to the source, Watford, Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield United, and up to four Championship teams have all indicated interest in hiring Van den Berg on a temporary basis.
Klopp, who has previously approved Rhys Williams’ loan transfer to Blackpool, does not want to lose another center back at a time when his team is in need of defensive reinforcements.
Van den Berg has only played four times for Liverpool as a senior since moving there from Zwolle in 2019, but he was on the substitutes’ bench for the Premier League match against Fulham last weekend that ended in a 2-2 tie.
