“See National Cathedral as a manger for Jesus” – Ghanaians told (Video)

Renewing calls for help, the National Cathedral Board of Trustees is not giving up on its goal of seeing the national monument built.

Dr. Joyce Aryee, the executive director and member of the board of trustees of Salt and Light Ministries, has fervently pleaded with Ghanaians to back the initiative.

She urged Christians in particular to view the cathedral as a manger of Jesus Christ and make donations to it in a video that was released on the church’s profile on X, formerly Twitter.

“The Cathedral is a central theme for us Christians in this country. Will it not be wonderful to even see it as a manger for the Lord Jesus Christ’s invasion of planet Earth,” she admonished.

The cathedral was built to fulfill a promise that President Akufo-Addo disclosed he made to God before winning the 2016 election. It was scheduled to be dedicated on March 6, 2024.

When finished, the 5,000-seat Cathedral will serve as a hallowed venue for official state religious events and serve as a testament to the significant role that religion plays in fostering national identity.

Many Ghanaians have expressed disapproval of the $100 million project, which was built by famous architect David Adjaye, believing it to be an inappropriate focus.

The government’s forced demolition of some state property, notably the judges’ quarters at Ridge in Accra, to make room for the building intensified the condemnation.

However, Akufo-Addo’s term is coming to an end, and the project is still in its early stages.
