The Ghana Premier League’s second round begins this weekend, following a month-long break for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations competition. Accra Hearts of Oak, Kapndo Heart of Lions, and Karela United will play their home games at different locations.

The Lions will play their home games at their preferred location, Kpando Sports Stadium, where they completed their league qualifying campaign last year.

However, due to park renovations taking longer than expected, the team had to use Sogakope Park and Hohoe Sports Stadium for their league opener.

The Lions begin their second round campaign on Saturday against Asante Kotoko, led by new coach Bashiru Hayford.

Hearts have made the decision to shift to WAFA Park, Sogakope. Hearts had to transfer to the Baba Yara Stadium for their final few games after the Accra Sports Stadium was closed in December.

In their week 18 matchup against Real Tamale United, the Phobians will be playing their home games at Sogakope for the first time.

Hearts will want to win the majority of home points at their newly adopted home after completing a few new acquisitions in the second transfer window and hiring Ivorian coach Aboubakar Ouattara. Hearts won just three home games in the first round.

As a result of the Accra Lions and Accra Great Olympics being forced to relocate to WAFA Park until the Accra stadium is prepared for home competitions following the 13th African Games, Sogakope will likely become one of the busiest venues in the second round.

Due to field construction, Karela United and Real Tamale United had to reschedule their home games to the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre in Nalerigu. The Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale was rendered unusable.

On Sunday, ninth-place Legon Cities will visit Karela, which is ranked 16th in the league standings.
