The second edition of the Read to Inspire Series at the Korle Gonno Community Library showcased ‘The Girl Who Can’ by renowned Ghanaian author Ama Ata Aidoo.

Organized by the Duo Concept Foundation, the event aimed to instill a love for reading in students and appoint them as ambassadors of the initiative.

Pupils from selected basic schools in Korle Gonno participated in the event, engaging in knowledge-sharing activities and personal development exercises. Lead facilitator Kate Addo emphasized the importance of reading in enhancing discipline, self-awareness, and communication skills.

The choice of Ama Ata Aidoo’s book resonated with the modern struggles of young women, highlighting relatable themes of adventure and inspiration. Esteemed guests such as Madam Doreen Hammond and Dr. Wale Okediran appreciated Aidoo’s significant contributions to women and girls’ development through her literary works.

The Duo Concept Foundation, a nonprofit organization co-founded by Panin and Kakra Acheampong in 2010, focuses on supporting children and the less privileged through educational reform programs nationwide. By promoting reading and personal growth, the foundation continues to make a positive impact on youth empowerment and education in Ghana.
