Top Scottish cyclist John Paul has sadly passed away. His passing was announced on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. He was 28.
In 2011, Paul received huge praise from cycling fans in Scotland and around the world after becoming world junior sprint champion that year.
His top-notch display and historic win earned a reputation as one of Scotland’s most promising talents.
He would go on to represent Scotland at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, doubling as European champion at junior level.

The Scottish Cycling governing body announced his death in a tweet on Wednesday.
“Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of John Paul, as we bring the very sad news of his passing,” the tweet said.
They described Paul as ‘a wonderful person both on and off the bike.’
“A brilliant cyclist who represented Scotland at
@Glasgow2014, John was also a wonderful person both on and off the bike, who will be sorely missed by our cycling community,” the tweet added.
