Schools closed down in Kwahu-Bepong after fatal shooting incident

The Kwahu South Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has ordered the closure of all schools in Kwahu-Bepong due to a shooting that happened on Sunday, February 4.

The incident resulted in the deaths of two people and the shooting of numerous more.

In Kwahu South Municipality in the Eastern Region, it appears that police accidentally fired rounds in an attempt to disperse a boisterous mob, which resulted in the deaths.
Because to this unfortunate situation, 25 persons have been held by the police.

Because of the persistent police presence, a large number of young people have fled the town out of fear of being detained.

According to Emmanuel Ofori Attah, the chief executive of Kwahu South Municipality, all local schools have been closed as a precaution. He made this announcement in an interview with Adom News.

He stated that the goal of this move is to protect youngsters and avert possible acts of retaliation.

In the interim, boarding students will continue their studies on campus while day students at senior high schools and basic school pupils will remain at home.

“What you heard is true. I decided with my Education Director. The incident happened yesterday [Sunday] and it won’t be advisable for children to go to school. The basic school students won’t be going to school including the Day students at the Senior High. However, those in the boarding house will remain on campus till the case is settled.”

“We are going to meet as leaders so by noon, everything will be fine” he said.
