Sowutuom based rapper, Medikal has claimed that he is the rapper who saved Ghanaian rap music from dying.

This highly debatable claim by the AMG Business linchpin comes few weeks after he was adjudged the Best Rapper as well as the Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste of the Year at the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).

In a tweet he delivered on Twitter, Medikal claimed that four (4) years ago, he saved Ghanaian rap music from going extinct and further promised to keep rap music alive in Ghana. His tweet is gradually generating controversy on social media as a large section of social media users are descending on him for the said tweet. Most users are already ridiculing him for the controversial tweet.

Medikal’s tweet suggests that the efforts by the likes of Sarkodie, M.anifest, E.L, among others in the previous years have not been significant enough to salvage rap music from being subdued by other genres such as Dancehall and Highlife.

The Reigning VGMA Best Rapper is set to release an Extended Play (EP) dubbed The Plug on 15th June 2019.  The tweet above could be part of attempts by the rapper to generate some attention ahead the release of the EP.
