In an unexpected turn of events, renowned musician Sarkodie, known in real life as Michael Owusu Addo, has thrown his support behind Guru’s campaign for the position of President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at the University of Ghana.

During his performance at the Pent Hall Week Artiste Night on Friday, May 24, 2024, Sarkodie passionately urged the students to rally behind Guru and vote for him in the upcoming elections. He expressed his confidence in Guru’s leadership abilities and emphasized that under Guru’s direction, the university would experience positive growth and development.

Sarkodie also highlighted the importance of nurturing creativity and providing more opportunities for artists within the university community. He firmly stated, “If you want me to come here again then make Guru the President of the SRC,” indicating his firm belief in Guru’s potential to lead effectively.

This endorsement from Sarkodie adds a new dimension to Guru’s campaign, as he joins the ranks of other public figures who have ventured into the political arena within academic institutions. If successful, Guru will follow in the footsteps of Samini, who previously led the SRC at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) as a musician-turned-leader.

The music industry’s influence on student politics continues to grow, with artists like Guru and Samini paving the way for a new wave of leadership within educational institutions. As the university gears up for the SRC elections, all eyes are on Guru and the impact of Sarkodie’s endorsement on his campaign.
