The England Women’s head coach, Sarina Wiegman has tested positive for Covid-19. Unfortunately, she will not be on the bench for the Lionesses’ final Euro 2022 group stage game against Northern Ireland at St Mary’s on Friday night.
Wiegman will undertake a period of recovery at the squad’s base camp.
Sarina Petronella Wiegman RON, also known as Sarina Wiegman-Glotzbach, is a Dutch football manager and former player who is the current head coach of the England women’s national team. During her playing career, Wiegman started as a central midfielder and later became a defender.
Sarina Wiegman was born on October 26, 1969 (age 52 years), in Hague, Netherlands.
The assistant coach, Arjan Veurink will lead the team against Northern Ireland. Wiegman will remain in remote contact with the players and technical staff.
The Nother Ireland coach, Wiegman said, rotation is unlikely as England faces British rivals Northern Ireland in their final Group A match at Euro 2022.
