Reports emerged on Tuesday night that a senior Trump administration official had consented to appear in under oath before the House Select Committee looking into the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, Sarah Matthews, who held the position of deputy press secretary in the Trump White House until shortly after the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, has been subpoenaed by the House select committee looking into the uprising and has agreed to testify at an upcoming hearing.
Matthews resigned on the night of Jan. 6, describing the events as very disturbing and undemocratic. According to multiple outlets, Matthews has been summoned to appear before a public hearing as soon as next week.
She was a spokesman for Trump during his failed 2020 presidential campaign. Sarah publicly defended fellow White House staffer, Cassidy Hutchinson after her very revealing and subsequently controversial testimony before the select committee.
