Vincent Edward Scully was an American sportscaster who was born on November 29, 1927. He was best known for his 67 seasons as a Los Angeles Dodgers announcer, which began in 1950 (when the team was situated in Brooklyn) and ended in 2016.

In terms of overall years engaged with the Dodgers organization, he has the second-longest tenure of any announcer with a single club in professional sports history, trailing only Tommy Lasorda (by two years).

He married Sandra Hunt, who had two children of her own, in late 1973, and they soon had a child together.

Vin and his second wife, Sandra, were married for 48 years till Sandra died on January 3, 2021, from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Scully was the father of four children, the stepfather of two, the grandfather of sixteen grandchildren, and the great-grandfather of three.

Scully died on August 2, 2022, at the age of 94, at his home in Hidden Hills, California.

Scully was selected No. 1 in an edition of MLB Network’s Prime 9 about the nine greatest baseball announcers of all time.
