The umbrella body of the Ras Tafari coummunity in Ghana, the Rastafari Council of Ghana has called on the Ghana Education Service to sanction the Headmaster of Ebenezer Senior High School for denying Samini access to the School.

The Headmaster is reported to have refused to grant Samini’s request to have an interaction with students of the school as part of the activities he has outlined for the 2019 edition of Saminifest. According to reports, the Headmaster claimed the locks on Samini’s head placed him in a capacity to be a bad influence on the youth.

In a press release issued on Thursady 19th Decemeber 2019, The Rastafri Council has empathized with the decorated reggae/dancehall artiste for the unpleasant treatment he suffered. The Council further appealed to Ghana Education Service (GES) to make a statement on the matter. They also expressed support for a petition to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) over the matter.

According to the Council, the conduct of the Headmaster is discriminatory and same contravenes articles 12, 17 and 26 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana. These constitutional provisions guarantee the enjoyment of fundamental human rights and liberties as well the promotion of equality of all persons.
