Samira Bawumia involved in gory road accident, one dead

The second lady of the Republic of Ghana, Samira Bawumia, was involved in a serious car accident that left one person dead in her convoy.

The second lady was traveling to the Ashanti Region on Saturday, January 13, 2024, when the incident occurred. A Sprinter bus, which had on board a driver and two other passengers in the passenger seat, collided with two cars in the convoy of the Second Lady.

The Second Lady is reportedly unharmed, as she did not sustain any serious injuries, according to sources.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), in a statement, said the accident happened at Ohene-Nkwanta near Nobewam, off the Kumasi-Accra highway.

According to the GNFS, a collision involving a Toyota Land Cruiser (GC-9094-21), a Toyota Land Cruiser (VR-2105-15), a Mercedes Benz C180 (NR-1977-18), and a Benz Sprinter (GE-7256-14) was discovered at the crash scene at 1312 hours. STNO II Odjer Jonathan led the rescue team to the scene.

“The rear of the Toyota Land Cruiser (GC-9094-21) and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Mercedes-Benz C180 sustained significant damage to their engine compartments and windshields, while the Toyota Land Cruiser (VR-2105-15) also sustained partial damage,” according to the report.

According to the report, “Of the eight victims, four had already been rescued by the public and taken to the hospital.”

Fuseini, who had reportedly guarded the Second Lady and lived with the Vice President’s family since 2008, sadly passed away.
