Ausama Shoubber gave birth to Sam in 1956 in Baghdad, Iraq, the geographic centre of the Middle East.
Sam developed a love of movies at a very young age, starting with his first cinema outing at the age of six to see Dr No, the very first Bond film, and continuing throughout his childhood in Baghdad.
