On Monday, February 5, 2024, Samuel Pyne, the mayor of Kumasi, oversaw the commissioning of important educational projects in the city.
The Obiri Yeboah M/A Primary and Junior High School at Amakom, a nine-unit institutional sanitation facility for a Higher Institute of Islamic Studies at Buokrom, and a six-unit classroom block at Adumanu M/A School were all unveiled during the brief ceremony.
The Adumanu M/A School project is currently in its infancy. These initiatives, which are supported by the World Bank and DACF/RFG, demonstrate the government’s dedication to fostering a positive learning environment.
In addition to highlighting the value of appropriate maintenance procedures, Mayor Pyne urged people to contribute to the preservation of public spaces.
“It is imperative that the facility’s leadership sets an example for regular and consistent maintenance,” the Mayor stated, adding, “We should be able to observe it preserved.” It shouldn’t follow the path taken by a number of Ghanaian institutions.
Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister of Works and Housing and Bantama MP, praised the event. The Metro Director of Education, Mr. David Oppong, thanked the mayor for his commitment to education and promised to see to it that the facilities were properly maintained.
The ceremony was presided over by Adumanu chief Nana Kwame Frimpong Akowuah ll, and was attended by a number of dignitaries, educators, and the general public.
