Renowned businessman and philanthropist, Sam Jonah KBE, OSG, is set to launch the 75th Anniversary of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. The event will take place at the prestigious Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, starting at 1pm.
According to a press release from the Association signed by the General Secretary, Kofi Yeboah, the launch will be chaired by Nana Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng, a former Chairman of the National Media Commission (NMC). The Special Guest of Honour for the occasion will be Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Works and Housing, who also serves as the Caretaker Information Minister.
Media practitioners, partners, heads of media institutions, and students from journalism and communication training institutions are expected to grace the occasion. The event will see Sam Jonah deliver the Keynote Address under the theme “75 years of excellence in journalism: Past, present, and the future” as well as unveil the 75th Anniversary Logo.
Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, the President of the GJA, will also address attendees on the significance of the anniversary theme in rallying members of the Association. Godwin Avenorgbo, Chairman of the 75th Anniversary Planning Committee, will outline the various activities planned for the anniversary, culminating in the 28th GJA Media Awards in September 2024. Regional activities will also be organized to give the anniversary a national outlook.
