Sam Fender lives in North Shields, where he was born on April 25, 1994.
The young singer was born to Shirley Fender and Alan Fender. Sam’s mother Shirley was a nurse, and his father Alan was an electrician. Sam live with his parent and an older brother Liam in North Shields. Aside from being an electrician, Sam’s father Alan is also a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and pianist, while his brother Liam is good at playing the drums.
Sam worked at Low Lights Tavern where he used to perform. When he was 18, he was sported by Ben Howard’s manager Owain Davies, who took him on as a client. Throughout 2013, he played a series of gigs across the country supporting several artists including Howard and Willy Mason.
Sam was diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening illness when he was at the age of 20, shortly after which his father moved to France. He then took two years out for health reasons. He revealed years later that he has a “compromised immune system”.
Sam received the Brit Award for Best British Alternative/Rock Act and the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically in 2022.
