Samuel Thomas Fender was born and raised in North Shields, where he was joined by his parents. Around the age of fourteen, he discovered his calling as a singer-songwriter and began appearing in television programs. He self-released many tracks and was named one of the BBC’s Sound of 2018 in 2018.
In November 2018, Fender signed with Polydor Records and released his debut EP, Dead Boys. At the age of 18, Fender was noticed performing in the bar where he worked by Ben Howard’s manager, Owain Davies, who signed him as a client.
