Sam Cooke was a singer, songwriter, and businessman from the United States. He was influential as a composer and vocalist and is referred to as the “King of Soul” for his distinctive voice. He started singing when he was young and later joined the vocal group The Soul Stirrers before embarking on a solo career.
‘You Send Me, ‘A Change Is Gonna Come, ‘Wonderful World, ‘Cupid, ‘Chain Gang, ‘Twistin’ the Night Away, and ‘Bring it on Home to Me’ are just a few of the great singles he amassed.
Sam Cooke children: Meet Linda Womack, Vincent Cooke, Tracey Cooke
Linda (born in 1953), Tracy (born in 1960), and Vincent were the three children that Cooke and his second wife, Barbara Campbell Cooke, had (1961 to 1963).
At least three further children were also born to him outside of marriage. Later, his daughter Linda and her husband, Bobby Womack’s brother Cecil Womack, created the pair known as Womack & Womack. Linda is now known as Zeriiya Zekkariyas. Sam Cooke was shot and killed by Bertha Franklin, the manager of the Hacienda Motel in Los Angeles, California, on December 11, 1964, when he was just 33 years old. Cooke’s death was deemed a justifiable homicide by the courts.
