The Indian-born controversial author Salman Rushdie was stabbed in the neck and body while giving a lecture on August 12, 2022.
He had spent years in exile after Iran asked Muslims to kill him because of his books.
The unfortunate stabbing incident has been publicly denounced by authors and politicians all across the world. Rushdie has been put on a ventilator to save his life.
His situation is super critical at the moment. Briefing the media about Rushdie’s medical condition his book agent, Andrew Wylie said, “The news is not good.” “Salman will likely lose one eye; the nerves in his arm were severed, and his liver was stabbed and damaged.”
Rushdie who has lived with a hefty bounty on his head since the early 80s was being introduced on stage to begin the lecture when the heinous crime was committed.
The author’s attacker was immediately arrested by a policeman who was on site but the damage had already been done.
Rushdie was treated by a doctor in the crowd until emergency personnel could arrive, according to the police. National security adviser for the White House Jake Sullivan describes the incident as “appalling.”
There is a frantic collaboration between the police and feds to ascertain the criminal’s reason for attacking Rushdie in that fatal manner.
