A 19-year-old girl and resident from Jinigini Kofi in the Bia East district of the Western region is reported to have committed suicide after her father told her he will not accept her relation with her boyfriend.
Narrating the incident to Nyankonton Mu Nsem, reporter Sir Joe explained that, the deceased, known as Constance Amankwaa, was confronted by her father over her relationship with her boyfriend. She reportedly exchanged words with her father over the issue and committed the act shortly after.
The deceased is said to have been advised to end her relationship with the boy because he was lazy but she refused to end the relation as the father had requested.
The father is said to have also warned that he would not take responsibility for her upkeep if she refuses to adhere to his advice, a situation which is reported to have informed the deceased’s decision to take her own life.
