Rust gun could not fire without trigger pull-FBI reports

The FBI forensic analysis on the Rust fatal shooting case indicates that the pistol used in the accident could not have been shot without pressing the trigger, contradicting Alec Baldwin’s previous allegations.
Last year, Baldwin, the film’s producer, and principal actor shot cinematographer  Halyna Hutchins on the set. He said he was handling “cold gun” with no live bullets. 
When the pistol was discharged, however, live bullet hit Hutchins, killing her. 
Joel Souza, the film’s director, was also injured during the production.
The FBI concluded that the.45 Colt (.45 Long Colt) caliber F.lli Pietta single-action revolver required trigger pull to fire.

The cannon “could not be made to fire without the hammer in the quarter- and half-cock positions.”

It went on to say that the gun couldn’t detonate “without a pull of the trigger when the hammer was directly impacted.” According to the article, such a reaction is common for this sort of revolver.

The ABC-TV story contradicts what Baldwin said in a December interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. Baldwin said he did not pull the trigger on the gun at the time.

 

“There was no trigger pull,” he explained. “I didn’t fire the shot.”

 

Baldwin’s and Hannah Gutierrez Reed’s representatives, who handled guns on the set, have not replied to the report.
