Real Tamale United (RTU) official Kayaba has vowed to take decisive action to ensure that the club does not repeat the player impersonation incident that led to severe sanctions from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The GFA recently fined RTU GHc100,000 and handed one-year bans to several officials after the club was found guilty of intentionally deceiving match officials during their Matchday 28 game against Dreams FC. The use of unregistered players to impersonate registered ones brought the game into disrepute, a violation of GFA Premier League Regulations.
Kayaba, speaking to Peace FM, emphasized that RTU has learned a harsh lesson from the incident and has already taken steps to prevent a recurrence. “We are just hoping and praying that what we did will never in the history of Real Tamale United repeat itself again,” he said. “We have put measures in place to make sure that going forward what happened will never happen to Real Tamale United.”
The banned RTU officials included Iddi Manzah Alhassan, Abdul-Samed Iddrisu, Abdul-Gafaru Salifu, Tanko Jentumah, and Sylvester Yaw Apanka. The sanctions are effective immediately, highlighting the seriousness of the offense.
Kayaba’s commitment to implementing measures to safeguard against future incidents demonstrates RTU’s determination to uphold the integrity of the game. The club is keen to move forward from this setback and rebuild its reputation within the football community.
