His death was reported on his autobiography’s Facebook page.

Despite having no official training in the arts, Crump was able to land a job at the Walt Disney Company at the age of 22 working mostly as an animation assistant on movies like “Peter Pan,” “Lady and the Tramp,” “Sleeping Beauties,” and “101 Dalmatians” thanks to his amateur drawings.

With his own artistic endeavors, including a series of posters glorifying drugs, Crump displayed his unique beatnik aesthetic and pop art methodology.

He designed posters for jazz and rock musicians, and Walt Disney promoted him from the animation division to the Disneyland design team after noticing his work.

The Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World, Tomorrowland, and the Enchanted Tiki Room are just a few of the attractions that Crump helped create after joining the embryonic Walt Disney Imagineering Department in 1959.
