Rodrigo Alberto de Jess Chaves Robles (born June 10, 1961) is a Costa Rican politician who will be inaugurated as president on May 8, 2022.

Chaves previously served as Minister of Finance under Carlos Alvarado Quesada’s presidency.

Chaves Robles was born on June 10, 1961, in the Carmen urban district of the central canton of San José.

He spent most of his life outside of Costa Rica, earning a Ph.D. in Economics from Ohio State University and working for the World Bank for 27 years in over 45 countries across America, Europe, and Asia.
