Australian cricket legend Rod Marsh has passed away. He died on Friday, March 4, 2022, at the age of 74.

Marsh played as a wicketkeeper for the Australia national team. He had a Test career spanning from the 1970–71 to the 1983–84 Australian season and is regarded as one of his country’s greatest players.

In 1984, he called time on his Test career, hanging up his gloves with what was then a world record of 355 dismissals and 3,633 runs to his name.

And following his retirement, Marsh oversaw the nation’s cricket academy and later became a selector.

Between 2001 and 2005, he spent time in England as the director of the ECB national academy during a four-year spell and further oversaw the ICC’s inaugural world coaching academy in Dubai.

He was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009, 24 years after being elected to the Sport Australia Hall Of Fame. He also became a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1982.

He died on Friday in Adelaide after suffering a heart attack in Queensland last week. He was placed in an induced coma.
