Robert Bernard Reich (born June 24, 1946) is an American academic, author, lawyer, and political commentator. He served in Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter’s administrations, and he was Secretary of Labor in President Bill Clinton’s cabinet from 1993 to 1997. He also sat on President Barack Obama’s advisory committee on economic transition.

Reich has been the Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy since January 2006. He formerly taught at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.

He has also written for The New Republic, The American Prospect (of which he is also chairman and founding editor), The Atlantic, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.

Inequality Media, a nonprofit digital media organization founded by Reich and Kornbluth, was founded in 2015. Reich discusses inequality and power concerns, notably in the United States, in the videos on Inequality Media, such as universal basic income, labor rights protection, the racial wealth gap, affordable housing, and gerrymandering.
