Robert John Burke, an American actor, was born on September 12, 1960. He is best known for his work in the films Thinner, RoboCop 3, and Tombstone (1996). Burke rose to fame in the 2000s thanks to his portrayals of Ed Tucker in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (2002–20), Bart Bass in Gossip Girl (2007–12), and Mickey Gavin in Rescue Me (2004–11), as well as a variety of other roles in movies and television, such as Netflix Intrusion (2021).
Burke’s career in the film got its start as a regular player in independent movies directed by fellow Purchase alumnus Hal Hartley, like 1989’s The Unbelievable Truth. In the 1991 film Rambling Rose, Burke acted opposite Laura Dern, whose performance received an Academy Award nomination. In 1992, he collaborated once more with Hartley on the Palme d’Or-nominated Simple Men at the Cannes Film Festival.
