Robert Andre Glasper, an American pianist, record producer, songwriter, and musical arranger, was born on April 6, 1978.

After Black Radio, Glasper’s breakthrough crossover album won the 2013 Grammy for best R&B album, he went on to appear on numerous other hit albums, including Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly, where he played keyboards and earned a second Grammy for the song “These Walls.”
With contributors like Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def), Bilal, Ledisi, Lupe Fiasco, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu, the continuous Black Radio series of LPs has now become Glasper’s calling card.
Black Radio made history by becoming the first album to concurrent peak in the top 10 of four separate genre charts, including Hip Hop R&B, Urban Contemporary, Jazz, and Contemporary Jazz. Black Radio 2 then replicated the feat.
