On May 9, 1993, Robbie Anderson, a wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League, was born. He participated in collegiate football at Temple. In 2016, Anderson was chosen by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. Before the 2022 election, he spelled his name, Robby Anderson.

Anderson wasn’t taken in the 2016 NFL Draft despite running the 40-yard dash in 4.36 seconds at Temple’s pro day. The New York Jets signed undrafted free agent Anderson on May 1 to a three-year, $1.63 million contract with a $10,000 signing bonus.

In the season-opening 23-22 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals for the New York Jets, he played his first regular-season game as a professional. In a 24-3 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 25, 2016, Anderson caught his first career throw from Ryan Fitzpatrick for 26 yards, and he finished the game with a total of two catches for 34 receiving yards.

Anderson started as the Jets’ slot receiver against the Seattle Seahawks in the following game, and he finished with two catches for 12 receiving yards in the team’s 27-17 defeat. Anderson took over as the Jets’ primary slot receiver on October 12, 2016, when Eric Decker suffered a season-ending injury.
