Following a robbery attack in the Ashanti Region near Jamasi, near Mampong, approximately seven passengers are in critical condition.

According to reports, the incident happened on Friday, January 26, 2024, at around 2:45 am. Along with robbing passengers from multiple vehicles—including a VIP bus carrying the registration number AC 7419-15 that was traveling from Accra to Yeji—the gun-wielding men also fled with an ambulance.

When the robbers erected a roadblock, the incident started. Daniel Tachie of Adom News was given access to the VIP bus driver, who related the terrifying experience.

The driver described how the robbers flashed their torchlight, telling him to stop. Thinking it was a police check-up, he slowed down. The robbers were climbing a hill.

“One of them pulled a gun on me, demanding that I get off the bus and open the door, which I did. They got on the bus and began firing without regard to who was targeted. They took my money and packages that had been delivered,” he explained.

Luckily for them, a police escort was present on the VIP bus, and during a shootout with the robbers, one of them was injured.

According to him, a few passengers were shot through the windshield by the robbers, causing injuries. They are currently being treated at the Mampong Government Hospital.
