Rick Tuber, a TV and film editor who worked on the NBC medical drama ER and earned an Emmy and an ACE Eddie Award for it, passed away on January 7 after suffering a heart attack at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 69.

His extensive editing credentials of Tuber date back to the middle of the 1980s through the 1990s, and include work on shows like Cagney & Lacey, Wiseguy, Nash Bridges, and Martial Law, among others.
His subsequent credits include Awake, 23 episodes of The Unit, and 13 episodes of Salem, Chicago Fire, and Bones, which served as his final project in 2017.
The 1995 Emmy Award for best editing went to Tuber and fellow editor Randy Jon Morgan for their work on ER during the first season of the show.
Throughout the course of his extensive career, he worked with a wide range of showrunners and directors, including Steven Spielberg, Aaron Spelling, Stephen J. Cannell, Shawn Ryan, Tyler Perry, Mimi Leder, Steven Bochco, David Mamet, and John Wells.
He worked as an assistant editor on early feature films such as Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1989), The Karate Kid Part III (1989), and Arthur 2: On the Rocks (1989).
