Richard Miller, an American character actor, appeared in more than 180 films, many of which were directed by Roger Corman (December 25, 1928 – January 30, 2019). Later, he appeared in the films of directors who had also begun their careers with Corman, including James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, and Joe Dante. He is unique in having appeared in all of Dante’s films. He was well recognized for playing the down-on-his-luck common man, frequently in fleeting cameos.

Miller died on January 30, 2019, in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, where he was being treated for pneumonia, just over a month after his 90th birthday as the result of a heart attack.
Miller was born in The Bronx, New York, on Christmas Day 1928. His parents were Russian Jewish immigrants Rita (Blucher), an opera singer, and Ira Miller, a printer. His service in the US Navy was completed. As a result of his attendance at City College of New York, Columbia University, and New York University, Miller eventually received a PhD in psychology. Before switching to acting, he began as a writer.
