British actor Richard Howard has suddenly passed away leaving his family and friends in shock.

Richard Howard died at the age of 79 on Monday, January 29, 2024. The veteran stage actor had a long career in the theatre and had also featured in Emmerdale but passed away after a ‘short illness’, his agents have confirmed.

Richard Howard was born on March 8, 1944, in Hitchin, United Kingdom. His father was a civil servant and he attended a preparatory school and Haberdashers’ Aske’s School. He then trained as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School before appearing on stage in repertory theatre, at the Oxford Playhouse and the Royal Court Theatre. He was a former teacher at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and a member of the London Shakespeare Group.
Richard Howard portrayed vicar Bob Jerome in the ITV soap Emmerdale Farm from 1979 to 1981. He also appeared in Agatha Christie’s Poirot episodes – Four and Twenty Blackbirds in 1989.
