The body of a former Boeing employee who was well-known for questioning the company’s production standards was discovered in the US.

Prior to his retirement in 2017, John Barnett spent 32 years working at Boeing. He had been testifying in a whistleblower case against the corporation in the days before to his passing.

The Charleston County Coroner verified the passing of John Barnett, 62. He passed away from “what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to a news statement from the office.

Mr. Barnett was in Charleston at the time of his passing attending court appearances related to that matter.

He performed a formal deposition last week, during which he answered questions from Boeing’s legal team and then faced cross-examination from his own attorney.

After learning of Mr. Barnett’s loss, Boeing expressed its sadness. His death was verified on Monday by the Charleston County coroner.

Authorities were alleged to be looking into the 62-year-old’s death on March 9th from a “self-inflicted” wound.

Prior to his 2017 retirement due to health issues, Mr. Barnett spent 32 years working for the US airline major.

Known as the “Boeing Whistleblower,” John Barnett was an American aerospace engineer who worked at Boeing before becoming a whistleblower.

John never disclosed any details regarding his kin. He never revealed to the public who his wife and kids were.
